With the high temperatures that we experience in the New Mexico summer, it is best to water your lawn in the early mornings. The only exception to this rule is during the establishment of new sod. During the establishment of new sod in New Mexico, the high heat and low humidity can kill your grass within minutes. You must water new sod as its being installed, then several times during the day until your lawn is well established. After approximately three weeks, you should be able to reduce your watering to once per day in the evening.
